How Sports Rock My Life
Sports have positively impacted my life in three key ways. Mentally, it is a great tool to drive clarity and focus. Socially, it helps encourage team building skills and build social interactions. And lastly, physically, it has always helped me keep fit. Many people have always enjoyed sports and I wonder if people realize how many important benefits that sports can bring to life.
First, mentally, we all have times when we need to think clearly and find focus. When you take breaks it is good to go outside and play sports. It clears your head and keeps you in good mental shape. According to Peggy Plencher in the 2016 article The Top 7 Mental Benefits of Sports, “Whether you are playing sports, working out at a gym, or taking a brisk walk, physical activity triggers brain chemicals, endorphins, that make you feel happier and more relaxed. Team sports in particular provide a chance to unwind and engage in a satisfying challenge…” (Pletcher). These facts seek to explain how playing sports can make your brain think differently, access varied perspectives, and solve a problem in creative ways. This is significant because it helps your problem solving abilities tremendously. Endorphins are chemicals that produce happiness to your brain which can help with focus. When I am stuck on a problem, I play a sport as a break and it helps me look at the solution differently. In conclusion, sports have helped me look at problems in many ways and has helped me restore my tank when I'm out of stamina.
Second, sports assist in communicating with others and with team skills. This is because in order to play well you need to talk with others on your team. Individuals can make friends in the process who always will have something to teach you. Sports helps me make friends and clear my head. For example, I am on a soccer team and I make many friends playing the sport. Friends are a huge help because they can help you and teach you new things. Another example of how sports is helpful to building communication is the focus and attention it requires. When I am in a soccer game, I have to pay attention to the game and help my team by communicating. These skills can help from raising your hand in class all the way to conducting a job interview. It helps tremendously and is a really important skill to learn. This demonstrates that when you are on a team, not only do you make friends, but also you improve your communication skills. In conclusion, sports can help your communication skills and team building skills.
Lastly, sports keep you in good shape. Ironically, we are in the middle of a global crisis - Covid 19 - where we have to practice social distancing. You can complete your work while staying inside, but you also have the opportunity to get exercise and it will help you stay in shape. For example, I am eating a lot during quarantine but I am also playing lots of sports to keep me in shape. This demonstrates that sports help me stay in shape because I am eating a lot and I am still in good shape and plan on staying that way! Why am I still doing sports? Well, I am doing sports because it feels right to stay in shape and stay healthy otherwise I’m going to have bigger problems in life. Without sports I would probably be not as in shape as right now. It is good for my health to play sports. Another example is I had an ankle injury that lasted 3 months and prevented me from playing sports. During this time I realized how essential sports can be to my life and how difficult it was to operate without such activity. Clearly, sports are essential to your health and they help you stay in shape.
In the end, sports are good for you many reasons but these were just a few of them. Sports can help you have fun and can help you socially as well. Physical and mental state is important and sports can help you to balance both. Sports are essential to doing well in life and for your health. Sports have rocked my life!
